American Legion Memorial Stadium is finally undergoing renovations. Charlotte’s first major event venue was dedicated by former president Franklin Roosevelt in 1936. Mecklenburg County committed $32 million for the capital project. The City of Charlotte will contribute an additional $3 million from tourism tax revenue for an artificial turf surface. Projected completion is 2021.
